Today, we decided to try out this small Chinese restaurant located somewhere in Olds, Alberta (Canada): it was advertised as the “best buffet in town” only to realize, they’re the only actual buffet restaurant in this town. The lunch buffet dine-in experience began with a quite entry with my family earlier this day (March 1st 2018) at around 11:30am. My family members already ate in this specific restaurant before and we always had this joke about the “rude-looking” lady who handles customer service approximately at the age of 60+. She just never smiles and always have this poker face to most of the customers. Anyways, the lunch buffet ended and we are now about to pay.
Unfortunately, I had to handle the payment on store front and this is what happened next! Now it’s time to swipe my card.. here’s the real deal: as I was swiping the card in the WRONG WAY, she grabbed my card without proper consent (I was shocked + she had a mad face) and inserted it the right way. OUT OF NOWHERE. I thought she was just helping me… but she was just so rude. The way she did it. Not only that, she also whispered something that I can’t really understand. One thing’s for sure: she sounds rude and I was triggered. All my family members witnessed the incident. They were also triggered at this time. I was saddened. I was shocked. She just ruined a nice family lunch full of laughter due to her rude-ness out of nowhere. Why do you have to be so rude?
At this point, we were able to prove that our “rude-looking lady” joke was actually true. We felt sad. We were expecting a nice warm welcome to this resto but turned out: everything got ruined. It’s also very funny because the moment I got home I immediately checked their social media platform reviews only to find out: there was a similar “rude” complaint to an older lady in the same restaurant (see photo below):

Here’s the response of the “OWNER” of the said restaurant to that specific review post on facebook – he is the son of the “rude” lady server I was talking about, he was there when the incident happened earlier today: I think they’re a family who runs this business:

That is just so sad. Instead of trying to fix the problem of the complaint, you decided to insult her back. Now, I’m not going to fight this business/ restaurant back by being RUDE as well because that is just so wrong and LOW CLASS. I’m not trying to fight them back by doing the same thing that they did which was to be “rude”. But, I do hope that they realize these things because it WASN’T JUST ME (OR US): there were other customers who experienced the same rude customer service as well.

Kudos to the wife of the guy who commented on the post above: she was the one who handled the situation when we tried to silently complain about it at the back of the restaurant. She told us that there were a lot of customers who already said the same thing in the past. She was sincerely sorry. She keeps on apologizing to us. We understood. We stayed calm even though she (the rude lady) still keeps on yelling, saying stuffs we couldn’t understand while we were talking to the guy’s wife.
